One of the most unique distillery experiences has made its way to Great Lakes Distillery. The Bottle Your Own Experience offers guests an immersive look into the final step of the liquor-making process while creating a personalized keepsake to enjoy at home. Participants will fill, cork, label, and take home a bottle of barrel-strength bourbon, complete with handwritten labels that capture the individuality of each release. Every barrel offers its own distinct flavor profile, proof, and personality. This inaugural batch of Dirty Helen Barrel-Strength Straight Bourbon is over 6 years old and amazingly smooth for a whopping 134 proof.

Join Great Lakes Distillery for Summer Sunday Fundays with half-priced tour & tasting tickets, every Sunday, all summer long! Looking for a fun weekend outing? Been curious about the tour but haven’t taken it yet? Now’s the time!

Our distillery tour has been voted Best Spirits/Wine Tour by OnMilwaukee and Shepherd Express readers many years in a row. During our approximately one hour tour, visitors will learn about Wisconsin’s original craft distillery, our award-winning products, how we make them, and enjoy a guided sampling flight of six spirits.

Join us for our annual Summer Music Series, happening every Sunday from 3pm-6pm on the gorgeous patio at our Milwaukee location! Feel free to bring your furry friends along, as the patio is dog-friendly. Sip on locally crafted cocktails while enjoying live music from talented local artists and chompin’ on killer food from Fox Den. It’s the perfect way to cap off the weekend and enjoy the best of what Milwaukee has to offer!

Get excited and get ready for our monthly Trivia Night! Happening at our Milwaukee location every second Thursday of the month, we get started at 6pm! Hosted by GLD Vet, Rusty Drinkswell, our trivia is a night of craft spirits, arbitrary knowledge, and fun times. Get in early to get a spot and grab dinner with Fox Den. Trivia is always FREE to play!

Enjoy a rejuvenating Sunday morning  at our Milwaukee location with a guided yoga flow session led by seasoned instructors from MKE Yoga Social! Each ticket to this yoga session comes with a GLD Bloody Mary. Not drinking, no worries! Non-alcoholic options are available upon request (as are Non-Bloody Mary drinks). This event is perfect for both yoga enthusiasts and those looking for a fun and relaxing way to spend their Sunday morning. Roaring Dan’s Navy-Strength Flavored Rum. Proofed for Firepower.

The term “Navy Strength” dates back to the British Royal Navy, when sailors stored rum alongside gunpowder aboard ships. If a barrel of rum leaked, the alcohol could soak the powder, potentially rendering it useless. Through trial and error, they discovered alcohol needed to be at least 57% ABV in order for the gunpowder to still ignite. That strength became known as “Navy Strength.”

Rum has long been associated with life at sea, making it the perfect spirit to honor one of the Great Lakes’ most infamous characters: “Roaring” Dan Seavey, the only man ever arrested for piracy on the Great Lakes. Known for “moon cussing”—altering navigation lights to lure ships aground—Seavey built a legendary reputation on the waters of the Great Lakes.

Inspired by this colorful pirate, Roaring Dan’s Navy-Strength Flavored Rum is distilled from fermented grade A sugarcane molasses. After fermentation and an initial run through our copper still, we add pure Wisconsin maple syrup prior to a second distillation. The flavored rum is then aged in both charred American white oak barrels and used bourbon barrels. A hint of added maple gives R Roaring Dan’s Navy-Strength Flavored Rum an initial buttery sweetness followed by a dry finish. Try it straight up or in your favorite rum cocktail.

At Great Lakes Distillery, we love our furry friends as much as we love our spirits! We will celebrate our favorite furry friends with an afternoon of dog-themed cocktails, live music, and tail wags. Pup cups will be available for purchase, with all funds benefiting Winston’s Wishes!
